Organizational Issues for the 2011-2012-Election of Chair, Meeting Schedule, Purpose Ron Nyhan called the meeting to order, and asked for nominations for the Chair person for 2011-2012. Deborah Floyd was nominated by Charles Roberts and seconded by Woody Hamlin, and the committee unanimously approved Deborah to be the Chair for 2011-2012. Deborah Floyd assumed the position of chair. She reiterated the importance that there should be a representative at the UFS and Steering Committee meetings from the colleges that have agendas to be approved. Members were reminded that the curriculum proposals approved by the Graduate Programs Committee will go to the Graduate Council for consent before going to the University Faculty Senate Steering Committee and then to the University Faculty Senate. The minutes of the April 13, 2011 meeting were approved unanimously by the committee. Proposals- Doctor of Medicine/Master of Science in Global Health and Bioethics- and The Proposal Master of Science in Global Health and Bioethics were both approved unanimously. SOW 6161- Work with Aging Populations was passed conditionally with a few changes. SOW 6282 Legislative Advocacy- did not pass, there were changes to be made to the syllabi, and to check with Political Science that there is no conflict of interest. SOW 6605 Advanced Context of Social Work Practice-was unanimously approved. The committee adjourned at 3:05 pm.
