Wilkes Honors College Professor Named FAU 2021鈥檚 Assistant Professor Scholar of the Year

鈥淭his University-wide award recognizes the most distinguished scholars at FAU in terms of research, publications and scholarship,鈥 said Christopher Strain, Ph.D., professor of American studies, Wilkes Honors College. 鈥淗e has an impressive publishing record, up to and including the publication this year of his first book 鈥,鈥 co-written with another Plato scholar.鈥澨

Beginning in January, FAU鈥檚 Division of Research invited applications and nominations for the Scholar of the Year Awards. One person at each faculty rank (assistant/associate/full) is awarded $2,500 to honor excellence in scholarly activities at the university level.听

鈥淒r. Baima is more than deserving of this recognition and we are beyond delighted that he was chosen as a recipient of this prestigious award,鈥 said Strain.听

Baima joined FAU in fall 2017, and focuses his research on ancient philosophy and ethics with a special focus on Greek philosopher Plato, seeking to explore the ways in which Plato鈥檚 account of ethics can provide insight into contemporary moral problems.
