Assistant Professor of Philosophy听
My research is at the intersection of philosophy, classics, and law. I am interested in what we can learn from Ancient Greek and Roman authors about how to live well in political communities. In particular, I publish about the role of law in the ideal constitutions of Plato鈥檚 political philosophy, and the relationship between Cicero鈥檚 politics and his skeptical epistemology.听
I believe that philosophy is essentially dialogic, and enjoy discussing all sorts of philosophy with my students, but I especially love to teach Ancient Philosophy, Environmental Ethics, and Logic.
In my leisure time, I enjoy cooking for my wife and children, birdwatching, fly fishing, and Brazilian jiu jitsu. I also have a longstanding interest in the poetry, art, and cinema of Spain and Latin America.听
